Skywatch Friday!

Wow, Friday already!?  Been a crazy week.  Really looking forward to the long Labor Day weekend.  My wife and I got out of town early today, took the long way out to the desert via the south end of Joshua Tree at Cottonwood Springs, then headed north to 29 Palms.  Lots of stops and photos later, we made it!

Just a word about the photos.  Both were taken today in Joshua Tree.  The park was nearly empty... felt like we had the whole place to ourselves!  Of course, a high of 103 will help keep the tourists away.  Anyway, these are a departure from my usual photography.  They were taken on my iPhone and they are supposed to look kind of 'lo-fi' and retro (like an old Instamatic).  Not for everyone, but I like it, especially for strange things in the desert like Joshua Trees and Ocotillos!

for more beautiful skies from around the world!

  4. Love the second one! The park was nearly empty when we were there last Sunday, too. We didn't see another car along the road for miles! We actually saw more animals after the rain storm than we've ever seen before! I'll be posting more of my pics from Sunday.

  5. Great photo's and I like that first one. I LOVE your header photo, very dramatic sky, and a three dimensional effect.
