Tommy Trojan

This life-sized bronze statue is Tommy Trojan, the University of Southern California's collegiate symbol and a favorite meeting spot on campus since 1930. I took this last weekend just before the dreadful USC vs. Washington State game. As a USC graduate, I feel like I paid for part of this statue (even back then it was an expensive university). More accurately, it was my wife who paid for part of this statue, as I was in school full-time working on my doctorate of pharmacy degree and she was paying most of the bills. When I graduated, she was given an honorary "Ph.T." degree (putting hubby through). I think she still has that diploma somewhere!
I like how Tommy looks like he's getting ready to go after that seagull with his sword! Linking with Skywatch Friday. Click on the link to check out great skies from around the world!!

  3. That really was a dreadful game last week...better days ahead for USC this Autumn.
Hey Tommy has to fend off those seagulls, they are his natural enemy!
Just saw your comment over on my Reagan Library post and wanted to encourage you to visit, it was really an amazing setting I did not expect at all from the location out in Simi Valley and full of California history.

  13. Great shot. Sorry about the loss, but I am a long suffering WSU Coug fan so it was nice to see them get the win.

  16. That's a very impressive statue and, I'd say a brave gull to fly so close ;>)....I had to go look up the results of that game because you made me curious. Bill graduated from WSU (and I got the same degree as your wife!)....but we long ago gave up following the Cougars.. They actually won a game! Wow.

  17. Hi i thought at first that you are advertising some spare parts, haha. But the photo is so lovely with that bird in there, and the blue background. I also love that degree, first time to hear that "PhT". What a kind wife! Thanks also for visiting my post.
