Blue Moon...

... You saw me standing alone. A popular classic written by Rodgers and Hart in 1934. It's been sung by just about everyone, from Billie Holiday to Elvis to Sinatra. Here's Ella's version for your listening pleasure!
Wednesday's moon (9/3/2014), taken in the early evening prior to sunset (hence the blue sky and blue tinted moon). Hope your week is going well. Click on the Skywatch Friday link to check out great skies from around the world!

  16. Gorgeous song -- I love it rendered in double-time by the singing mice in "Babe" and the way it's playing in the background towards the end of "The Remains of the Day" in that poignant scene with Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson. Your blue moon pic and the way you edited it are splendid indeed. I wish I had your mad photography skills. Happy skywatching and happy weekend!!!

  18. Hooray, another moon pic! After taking my very first one the other evening, I've become obsessed with taking more. (I'm gonna try to capture Jupiter in the background when the humidity clears off).

To answer your question, my camera is a Canon PowerShot SX50 HS. I takes wonderful pics. I especially like the macro settings on it... and the zoom lens for the moon photos.

  19. Beautiful job. Using the inside border around the moon makes it appear almost 3D ~ cool effect! Love the song reference. Ella Fitzgerald does an amazing job singing Blue Moon. I think her rendition is my favorite. Thanks for visiting today and have a fototastic weekend! #SWF

  23. Lovely song, singer and subject matter. I believe that I heard once that the phrase "blue moon" actually refers to when there are two full moons occurring within a calendar month, which of course is not often - once in a blue moon in fact.

  24. Awesome moon shot ... like the frame.

  25. Awesome moon pic, and once again I am jealous of all those with a clear view of the moon this month. Too cloudy to see it tonight, and we are expecting storms tomorrow night. Guess I'll have to settle for nearly full. Thanks for stopping by! ☺

  28. WOW! That's a fantastic shot! I don't think I can ever take a picture of the moon that clearly.

  29. Just beautiful Peter! And I don't mean Ella's version of the song, although that's great too. We saw the full moon here in Bellingham Washington where we are now ... over some electric wires beyond the RV Park where we're staying. But still it was beautiful -- we didn't really see much moon at all in Alaska. Skies are not the reason to go there. .... So it was good to see it , but your picture is a million time better . Thanks for sharing it.
