National Chloride Company

This area of the Southern California desert near Amboy is fascinating to me. So sparse and open. The National Chloride Co. has operated in this area for years, and the soil is heavily modified and impacted by the operations here. There are channels of chemically-laced waters, white salt-encrusted soils and little triangular man-made hills. Nothing grows here, and I imagine it's a bit like being on the surface of the moon (without the gravity change). It lends itself to B&W photography.

  26. Sparse to say the least - I can see why black and white works - but that last colour shot is great as well.
