Summit House Sunset

Summit House Restaurant in Fullerton, CA, is at what I think is probably the highest elevation in the city. There's a hiking trail that starts out from the west end of the property (Panorama Trail) and it's a great place to go for a Skywatch shot!
The restaurant is decked out for the holidays!
My wife, dog, and grandchild are just blurs in this 20-second exposure!
A close-up shot of one of the fountains... you can just make out some city lights in the background.
The photo above is Panorama Trail, which takes you up to some excellent look-out points. I could tell it was going to be a great sunset!
Our reward for hiking to the top of the hill... a beautiful sunset with hikers stopping to admire it!
My wife and I with our granddaughter and chihuahua. A long exposure shot, so things are a little blurry, but I like the sky behind us!

  7. Great pics. I really like your long exposures. The details just pop out. I think that I'm getting a pinhole camera for Christmas and those require long exposures and I'm looking forward to experimenting. I've already got a tripod and a cable release.

  14. Nice shot of the sunset with the people in it. Few sunset photos have that element in it so it does make for a more interesting picture.

  15. You sure have great instincts for knowing when and where a spectacular sunset will appear! Absolutely beautiful photos. The restaurant looks very pretty and festive, but its manmade lights are no match for that breathtaking sky! (And it's fun to get to see you in front of the camera this time!) :-)

  16. Wonderful night time photos, wonderful family pics and super sky shots. Thank you for stopping by and leaving such a very nice comment.

For a while I will be leaving this message to blogs that I visit where I notice there are several links to my posts. Please don't think I do this intentionally, it is a blogger thing. I wrote a piece about it a couple back before my present one, and asked for help in getting them deleted, as I know for some it has become a bit frustrating, quite understandably so. One of my commenters suggested that people go to their settings, click on Posts and Comments and then Backlinks where it gives a choice to hide or show. When some bloggers have clicked on 'hide', this for the most part has gotten rid of my backlinks and also prevents any others that might follow. I hope I am explaining myself properly but if you read the comments people have left on that post I mentioned, they too are very enlightening, Thanks for putting up with my ramble and have a great weekend :)

  18. Beautiful views of Southern California as always! I have never walked that trail, does it go up toward Carbon Canyon? Looks like a nice nearby hike.

  19. A gorgeous sunset indeed, and nice family shots. Send some of that nice weather our way, we're stuck in an unusually cold, snowy pattern.
