Cloudy skies, interesting rock formations, and flowers were the highlights of this hike in Joshua Tree National Park. I'll let the photos do the talking. Well, most of the talking!

Like I said, just a little ramble. I love hiking on cloudy days!
Thanks for stopping by!!
Linking with Skywatch Friday.

Those clouds looked like they were going to open up on you at any moment.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all of your cloud pictures. One of the cloud looked like there was rotation in it. That was a most unusual picture. PS I won’t be posting until tomorrow, but I had some free time now.
ReplyDeleteFabulous clouds on this very enjoyable, 'cloudy day' ramble. The rock scupltures impressive and the desert so alive.
ReplyDeleteVery moody skies, adding atmosphere to the strange landscape #Skywatch
ReplyDeleteAll amazing but that final photo looks like a sculpture
ReplyDeleteAmazing landscapes.
ReplyDeleteYour photographs of rock formations that look like sculptures, Joshua Trees, flowers and cloudy skies add to the mysterious atmosphere the desert provides.
ReplyDeleteI'm not used to hiking with you on such dark days. I know every area can have changes in the weather but you usually share bright sunny days or starlight in the desert.
ReplyDeleteThey are all wonderful photos of the desert walk with you ~ wow! thanks,

I love how you lead us with an unremarkable title to your series only to surprise with such beautiful photos! Hiking on cloudy days is not only good for photographing, but to keep you cooler in such an arid climate. I love how the cinch weed leads us to the rock formation as if it is sculpted. That photo of the lenticular cloud formation is amazing.
ReplyDeleteThe sky adds to the drama. As if the setting needs more drama. Captured beautifully!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful series of photos. Love ❤️ the clouds ⛅️ 💙
ReplyDeleteYour photos speak well in this delightful, low key expedition.
ReplyDeleteThe formation in the photo before your hand looked just like a bullfrog with an open mouth to me. Then, next I looked it was a turtle!
ReplyDeleteThe cloudy skies give the desert such a dramatic, moody look. Fantastic photos of the landscape!
ReplyDeleteAmazing rock formations and cloudy skys, love the seal rock
ReplyDeleteSuper pictures--- things waking up and growing, clouds attacking, rocks that look like turtle heads... Not bad, Peter. A good way to spend the day.
ReplyDeleteStunning photos, Amazing formations of rocks, skies looks great.
ReplyDelete...WOW, thanks for shariing all of this stark beauty!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful photos. The last rock looks like a duck and the 3rd last a bit like a snake? And love the new header too, super :-D
ReplyDeleteWow what a header and the photo's are again truly wonderful. Thanks for showing them to us.
ReplyDeleteI love your ramble and great photos.
ReplyDeleteThe rocks have great characteristics. I see a turtle, a mittened hand, a finger pointing up to the clouds and so many things. The sky was dramatic which I don't think happens in the desert often.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done. I'd let the photos talk also!
These are such gorgeous photos - just amazing!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures
Tolle Bilder vom Spaziergang. Die Felsen und die Wolken sind klasse.

Very pretty! Happy Friday to you.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. How long was the hike? I am a 1 mile or less hike kind of girl.
ReplyDeleteNo darkness and Milky Way for a while, but you have also created a beautiful series with this green haze over the desert and the beautiful cloud formations.
ReplyDeleteYour skies look a lot like the skies here right now. They also make a fascinating back drop for you great photos. The clouds in the one photo near the end look like they are forming a mini-tornado.
ReplyDeleteFabulous as always. You know you should make a coffee table picture book. Your pictures are always so great.
ReplyDeleteThe sky had some dramatic formations. The photo above your hand holding rocks photo looks like the head of a sleepy snake or lizard. Then the last photo looks like a bird resting, feathers tucked in tight to its side. The dark dramatic skies sure are beautiful with the desert scenery combination.
ReplyDeleteI'm really liking the purple weeds and one of those rock formations look a bit like a dinosaur head.
ReplyDeleteWow, those clod-formations are incredible and the composition with the rocks is fascinating! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOne looks like a lizard, I think... a bird is there, too!
Thank you for sharing the beauty!
What stark beauty! I love the yellow flowers on the desert floor.
ReplyDeleteJoshua Tree is a beautiful park, and the sky was definitely interersting!
ReplyDeleteAWESOME!! Cloudy days are the best for impressive landscape photography, as your gorgeous image shows. Love the whole series!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. Love dramatic clouds in photos.
ReplyDeleteYou have an incredible eye for detail and scenery. What most people would walk by you find the beauty in the detail of random formations.
ReplyDeleteThe photos talked and I listened. But mostly watched. What a balancing act with that rock tower. Happy Thanksgiving and blessings to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteThe soft light on the rocks, and the purple and yellow flowers look so pretty together.
ReplyDeleteCloudy days are great for hiking.
Your photos captured that perfectly.
I've always preferred the lush mountains and aspens and pines, but after a recent trip to the grand canyon and seeing all the beautiful red rocks, I am new convert to that type of scenery. Beautiful shots.
