Hiking Afterglow

After finishing our hike to Mars, we were in no big hurry to jump in our cars and drive home. The post sunset skies were beautiful, the weather was perfect, and it was nice to just sit and enjoy the afterglow of a great hike.
I didn't have a tripod with me, so all these photos are hand-held.  Modern digital cameras are so amazing! As the sky darkened, I gradually dialed up my ISO setting. To keep the photos from being a blurry mess, I went as high as ISO 3200. It allowed me to keep a reasonably fast shutter speed to avoid blur. Even at ISO 3200, the colors are vibrant and I don't see much grain. Like I said, amazing!

Thanks for stopping by!!

  4. Yo las fotografías las hago todas a pulso. Tengo trípode y no lo utilizo para no caminar cargada con peso.
    Un abrazo.

  10. Lovely sunset pics! I find I'm using high ISO a lot more, mainly for bird pics. I've taken photos up to 12,800 ISO and they've turned out ok (after using a bit of noise reduction software.)

  16. It becomes more and more tempting to shoot sans tripod. I came across one photo that was handheld for 1/2 second. Not that my camera could do that, but if you have the latest and greatest ...

  17. Even more rewards in the aftermath and afterglow of your trip to "Mars"! I need to take time to play with the adjustments on my camera, I point & shoot and that's about it.

  23. What a beautiful sunset!!! I love these pictures so much! Things have been gray and gloomy here and we have found a leak in our roof with all the melted snow. We are going to have some water damage restoration done this weekend luckily. Wish we were visiting somewhere warm!

Your handheld shots turned out amazing, and it’s incredible how far digital cameras have come. The colors and clarity at ISO 3200 are truly impressive!
