Wow, I can't believe my last post was December 11th!! I never planned to take a blogging break over the holidays. What can I say... Life happens and time flies by!
Lots of cloudy skies and rain in my neck of the woods (Southern CA), which is wonderful. We will indeed be thankful for the rain come this summer. A nice view of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island in the above photo. Catalina Island is about 40 miles from the spot where this photo was taken.| The Toyon berries always look festive this time of year! |
For those of you who live in wet climes, the next few photos won't be anything special. Those of us who live in lands of litte rain get excited when we see water droplets on plants. We're strange that way!
Heavy fog, with 30-40' visibility. Normally there's an excellent view from here!
Prickly Pear fruit.
Skeletal remains of Prickly Pear pad.
Alien seed pod.
I usually give my friend here a fist bump as I go by on my hikes, but we both agreed a selfie was in order today. Check out his new cactus fruit necklace in the photo below!
Fast moving clouds, Christmas Day, 2025.
A rainbow over our backyard fence. I'm sure it means good luck and prosperity for 2026!
Wishing you all HAPPY HOLIDAYS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Linking with Skywatch Friday.

Surely luck will follow you after that rainbow! Am loving the drops and your new header!

That photo with Catalina island makes it look like one could swim out to it.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you got some rain. From what I read some of California is getting way too much. I live in a wet climate and I never get tired of raindrops on plants.
Absolutely amazing pictures! The flowers, drops, and metal people are perfect. But I have to admit I'd love to see the lens you use to pull Catalina in from your location. F'ing mind-blowing!
ReplyDeleteBill, it's just my cell phone at max zoom. Not even one of the fancy phones with a telephoto lens. With my big camera and a telephoto lens, I could pull it in much closer.
DeleteLove the rainbow! Wishing you all the best in 2026.
ReplyDeleteEin schöner Regenbogen und die Aufnahmen der Regentropfen sehr kreativ.
ReplyDeleteich wünsche alles Gute für 2026.
Gruß

Rain droplets on plants photos are some of my favorites!
ReplyDelete...it's nice to have you back! Everyone seems to love sunny days, but rainy days can make the world green lush. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteWow, it was clear enough to see Catalina?! In the rain?
ReplyDeleteI always delight in seeing a rainbow
ReplyDeleteI hope 2026 is good to you! Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteI like your metal buddy. Can I get his number? Its the necklace that got me.
ReplyDeleteHa ha, I'll send it to you! He's a good guy... you'll like him!
DeleteHappy New Year. Thanks for a year full of amazement at all the wonderful images you captured. Keep them coming.
ReplyDeleteWorth a Thousand Words
Wow, what a stunning collection of shots!
ReplyDeleteThe rain drops make everything look so fresh and alive,
I hope the beautiful rainbow brings all the luck and joy you’re wishing for in 2026.
Awesome photos, Best wishes for 2026. Happy New Year greetings to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I live in a place where we get a lot of rain but I still love macro photos of raindrops on foliage and flowers.
ReplyDeleteI am quite happy to see your flowers because all we see these days is white. That purplish one is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteEven in our climate we get excited to see water droplets on flowers and plants and anything else we can find. All of your shots were wonderful. I quite like your friend, he could be a good listener!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to colorful plants when we have a monochrome world at this time.
Welcome 2026... we will see 🍀🥂🍀
ReplyDeleteI wish you and your family all the best in 2026, a good 🍀and happy and healthy New Year. 🎉
Now here is some one who is like me in taking photos of water droplets and grey sky's. It's freezing here ATM so it might be in order to take some frozen cobwebs. Happy New year
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos. Love the rainbow :-D
ReplyDeleteI’ll bet the people living about 70 miles from us that got over 2 feet of snow in the past few days would have wished for some rain instead, but then again we see what parts of California in Oregon are going through so maybe not. I love that rainbow over palm trees. Happy New Year to you!
ReplyDeleteLife certainly gets away from us. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, a happy new year to you and your loved ones.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful photos, but raindrops are a common sight for us. Last year, 690 mm of rain fell in our garden. And that was a relatively dry year for us. But right now, we're mainly captivated by the first snow this year.
I do like your friend, he looks very happy - lol. Hope you had a nice xmas and happy new year.
ReplyDeleteYes, time sure flies and I love seeing water-drops! I´ll follow you - kinda- tomorrow. And wish you a happy New Year and... look forward to many more wonderful pictures! I thank you, I enjoyed them!
ReplyDeleteRain drops always capture my attention! Wishing you a Happy, Healthy, Adventurous New Year!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blog
ReplyDeletePlease read my post
ReplyDeleteI'm one of those people who gets excited at the sight of raindrops on plants so I enjoyed all of these. We got some of that rain over here but not as much as you did. But enough to help the desert grow. I love your rusty friend.
ReplyDeleteAWESOME the first and the last photo are simply outstanding. Wishing you a Happy New Year!! 🍀💫🍾🥂🎆, Peter!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to our next desert walk.
Best regards,
isabella
Rain drops collecting on plants is so magical. Wishing you all the best in the new year to come.
ReplyDeleteCactus skeletons are so interesting. Whenever I see one, I want to take it home, but I know it would eventually just get thrown away so I let them lay.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I didn’t expect to come across something like this.
ReplyDeleteThis post immediately reminded me of it.

I really like the prickly pear with the raindrops, I had no idea what a Prickly pear looked like! I'm so glad you are excited about the raindrops. Living in a dry sunshine climate must be lovely most days, but I'm sure it has it's drawbacks. Wishing you a Happy and Healthy 2026, may your coffee stay hot and your Wifi always be working.
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful collection of photo's. A very good start for the new year indeed.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, especially the drops of water. Loved the video of the moving clouds. I hope 2026 is good for you.
ReplyDeleteLove rainbows.. something so positive and happy about them
