White Tank, Joshua Tree National Park

Sunday morning my wife and I got up at 5 AM to take the Jeep over to Joshua Tree and get some sunrise photos (pretty good for a non-morning person, eh?).  It rained out in 29 Palms most of Saturday, and Sunday promised to be clear and cold with some great clouds.  I had a 4WD road picked out to explore, but made the executive decision it was too dang cold to drive a vehicle without a top.  Instead, we took the Ford and went over to White Tank campground, grabbed the tripod, and took these shots.  Hope you like them.

Taken a little later in the AM after the sun was up.
Saturday night, after the rain, clouds were moving fast, the moon lit up the clouds, and the stars were coming out... really pretty night.  Happy Skywatch Friday!!

  3. Magnificent colours! Haven't seen them even in Outback Australia which is known for it's colour!

But the light in your later morning shot is just beautiful - makes the landscape look like a painting!

  4. Wow, that splash of pink in the first shot looked oddly out of place, but made sense by the second view!

  8. Thank you for sharing your fantastic world beyond my imaginations. I'm interested in those big, strange cactus growing on the desert. (^▽^)/♪ Your header's photo is miraculous scenery.

  18. You asked about framing and collage apps on the iPhone... at least I think that was what you were asking on the post of mine a short while ago. I so far haven't found a collage making app for the iPhone (or iPad) that works how I want it to work. I want way more flexibility than the apps seem to have and now cannot even recall the names of any of the ones I checked out and discarded. Meanwhile, there is an app called Crop'n'Frame for iPhone that will allow you to do just that. Again, I'm not real wild about the options built into it but haven't explored it very fully.

I use Picnik to make my collages... again... the options aren't always useful for how I want to present things. Hence my desire to learn how to make my own templates in Photoshop (most likely candidate).

Meanwhile, these sunrise images are all just gorgeous and although I too am not a morning person, find that once in awhile I can roll out of bed early enough to catch the sunrise! And the night sky is stunning! (maybe this week I'll link one of my Cape May sunrises to Skywatch Friday).
