Hey, I read your comment you left about your small cottonwood trees...I would keep them alive. They will provide you with years of enjoyment. We've had an owl come visit ours, as well as a family of orioles. The Cooper's hawk takes up residence there, too. Once they are established, their roots will seek out water.
