San Onofre, CA
A dark, brooding sky over the Pacific Ocean in San Onofre. The strangely positioned sign directed toward the ocean tells people approaching from the water that this is a "Nuclear Exclusion Area". There are many such signs along this stretch of coastline.

marvelous and other-worldly. :)
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought nuclear exclusion meant excluding nuclear activities but when I saw the structures in one photo I realize it probably relates to insurance policies that will not cover damage caused by nuclear accidents. Odd to think about it amid such beautiful scenery.

Fantastic shots! I LOVE that first one! I'd love to know more about the power plant...is it abandoned? The fact that the San Andreas fault is there makes it a strange place to put a nuclear power plant. The beach is gorgeous! I can't get over how awesome your photos are!
