Recharging my Battery
How do you recharge your batteries? I know getting out in the middle of nowhere is a great way for me personally to recharge and refresh. I wonder if most people appreciate how important "middle of nowhere" really is??
I couldn't resist taking a quick pic of this couple "recharging" on the rocks at Joshua Tree National Park. It's common for people in the Park to stop what they are doing and watch the sun sink below the horizon. This is actually a combination of two photos... sunset and then a later shot of the stars from the same location (the couple had moved on). Kind of the best of both worlds, right??
Linking with Skywatch Friday.

Mesmerising & beautiful! I am star struck!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photo!
ReplyDeleteA very cinematic idea, beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteAs a fellow desert dweller, I DO know how important "the middle of nowhere" is! Great shot!
ReplyDeleteWonderful sky, sunset and silhouette shot ~ for Sky Watch ~ ^_^
ReplyDeleteNice shot!! I recharge my batteries by getting out in the middle of nowhere. My nowhere is not near as nowhere as your nowhere. Not by a long shot.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw it I knew it wasn't a single shot, but it's beautifully done. I'm lucky to have lots of "middle of nowhere" within a short distance of me.
ReplyDeleteClever photo!
ReplyDeleteI would love to go find this rock and do exactly what this couple is doing! I live too close to a major city to have good places like this, of course Michigan isn't exactly known for mountain and/or desert views!
ReplyDeleteStopping to watch a sunset is akin to stopping to smell the proverbial roses. Each act is refreshing. This is a great shot and good editing as well.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it!
ReplyDeleteDid I mention I love this photo? Well I do!
Absolutely fabulous!

ReplyDeleteWorth a Thousand Words
A magnificent sunset - wow! Thank you for your comment - your next time in San Diego, try to visit Balboa Park - it's really worth it, since they have so many things together there (the Botanical and lilly patch garden, several musea, artist corner, fountains, ice cream, all with greens in between.
ReplyDeleteGreat ending of a movie. Real sunset good feeling end. Nice one.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunset and a wonderful picture of the couple! :)
ReplyDeleteWOW! Stunning, beautiful, gorgeous, PERFECT!

ReplyDeleteGreat image! Kudos for the post-editing magic!!!!
ReplyDeleteWish I was that good at doing Photoshop like that. My wife & I head Don to out caravan in Wales to get away from it all
ReplyDeletePerfect shot! well done.
ReplyDeleteI do and reached my limit driving around the "city" last week. Had way too many terrifyingly close calls and would LOVE to be in the middle of all that.
ReplyDeleteThis is a remarkable photo, is it one of your favorites? The silhouette, the colors, the composite, wow.
Thanks so much, Jeanna. Yes, probably one of my favorites. Mainly because I get totally pulled into the photo by the young couple sitting on the rocks. It instantly takes me back to JTNP on that beautiful late afternoon. My only regret is that I didn't approach the couple and ask for their email so I could send them a copy of the photo. I was a little worried about interrupting a beautiful moment, but in hindsight, I should have. They weren't even aware I took the photo.
Deleteyou created a very beautiful setting. Love it!
ReplyDeleteCould not be a better way to recharge your batteries and could not be a better picture. Stunning really.
ReplyDeleteWatching a beautiful sunset is one of my favorite ways to recharge and reflect ... if I were you, I'd put one of my perfect sunset pictures on my wall for those days when I can't get outside to see the real thing.
That is one hell of a photo, wish I could have been there, what a place to unwind.
ReplyDeleteAll the best, Gordon.
If that doesn't recharge a person's batteries, I'm not sure what would.
ReplyDeleteGreat job Pete! It's a beauty...
Oh I love it, but i can only do something without the stars. Compositing is not yet an acquired talent.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing better than a real live desert! Thank you for all these marvelous pictures!
