I'm taking you away from the desert for this post. Hope you don't mind! We took a mini-vacation (2 nights) in Seal Beach over the summer. Just a quick, hassle-free get-away. As you probably guessed by the name, it's a beach town and still has a little of the "old California" beach vibe. A fun place to hang out for a couple days. I took camera and tripod, and was so lucky to have these beautiful skies during our visit. We were a short walk from the pier, so nearly all these photos were taken on or near the pier. Enjoy!

Are you sticking your tongue out at me??? |

Same cruise ship, by night. |

I like the way people turn into ghosts with long exposure photos! |
Thanks for stopping by!!
...it's quite obvious that the California coast is so popular. Your images show way beautifully! Thanks.

Beautiful photos! Love the beach scenes.
ReplyDeleteNow that has awakened some memories. I have been to the beach at Long Beach but we never went as far down as Seal Beach. You have some amazing sky shots, and I had to laugh at the Amazon quip :)
ReplyDeleteBrought back some memories of the Long Beach oil derricks in their bushy costumes at night--- Late 70's. Super pictures--- I love the two with the attentive gull.
ReplyDeleteStunning views, Amazing clicks.
ReplyDeleteGreat scenery.
ReplyDeleteThey are stunning photos, I'm not one for the beach but you made it look appealing to visit
ReplyDeleteWonderful skies in those first few shots. I could do with a few days at the coast myself!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful pictures from a beautiful place
ReplyDeleteAs beautiful as your desert shots. I like them.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots, I especially like the sunrays.
ReplyDeleteSo far I have never ordered something from Amazon. :-D
The shades of blue in that sky…gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots as wel during the day as during the night.
ReplyDeleteThe second one. WOAH! That´s freeking fantastic!! If I´d taken it I would proudly hank it framed to my wall. Is it the new camera or did you just get lucky? ;)
ReplyDeleteDearest Peter,
ReplyDeleteLooks like an excellent choice for your 2-night stay for summer!
Dramatic photos and also dramatic in another way, those cargo ships not being unloaded...
Hugs,
Mariette
Beautiful California beach shots. You captured a lot of beauty!
Has aprovechado muy bien, esas mini vacaciones.
wow Seal beach that's one I haven't heard of but it looks like a really nice place to holiday.
ReplyDeleteIt never looks like that when I'm there ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat shots. You should see all the container ships out in the water now. There's more.
How beautiful! Oh, to travel again...almost two years since my last beach.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots. Love the Long Beach horizon and the beach with the gull over looking it. Of course they are all good, I love the beaches, but more so the oceans from the deck of a ship. Preferrably haze grey and underway. LOL
ReplyDeleteSherry & jack in Florida on the first beach.
Nice crepuscular rays.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous captures all specially the night shots.
ReplyDeleteOh how beautiful. I haven't heard of this small town, but now I want to see it.
ReplyDeleteWorth a Thousand Words
Great shots of the sky! I look forward to some beach time myself, and hopefully take awesome pictures like these. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! I've been to Long Beach and the port is amazing.
ReplyDeleteGreetings and Salutations! Long Beach is quite a beautiful area.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! I like the trickling rays and the ghost photos :))
ReplyDeleteGreat place for a vacation. Beautiful sky. I especially like the one with the sun rays coming out from the sky. The night views are beautiful too. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteWow, you really did have a perfect sky for these shots. Such a great set of photos from the beach. I loved seeing the line up of container ships that I've been hearing so much about.
ReplyDeleteThe Beach ...this is making me homesick! We were there, but not AT the beach. Beautiful water and skies! Emilel
ReplyDeleteNothing like a beach visit for some relaxation. Gorgeous views and you captured them so well.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful skies! I'd love spending a day or two at a pretty beach, listening to the ocean.
ReplyDeleteIt was interesting to see the long line of container ships off shore. Quite a log jam!
Nice! That opening sky shot is a stunner. I'd love to walk along that beach and on the pier and enjoy the wild ocean on one hand and the cityscape on the other :)
ReplyDeleteThe size of those ships is part of the problem, or so I've read.
Wonderful -- and a fun contrast to your usual "patch" ... the best kind of getaway. Your skies are beautiful everywhere.
ReplyDeleteI grew up going to Seal Beach as a kid. We lived in Compton and it wasn't far away. When I went to Long Beach State we would head there and have one of the girls with an ID buy us a pitcher of beer. Both are good memories. - Margy
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! My favorite is the one with the buildings in the background. How I love the beach. We go to the Alabama Gulf Coast every now and then as it's about a 5 hour drive. Gulf Shores has the most beautiful beach.
ReplyDeleteThe cruise ship looks cool!
