If you want to get close and personal with Smoke Trees, you need to spend time with them. Quality time. Bring a chair and get comfortable. Don't talk, just listen. Watch how their color and even personality seems to change from golden hour to sunset to night. After enjoying myself in Smoke Tree Wash during the late afternoon, I decided to spend more time with my newfound friends and enjoy the sunset and early stars.
I used some of my favorite photos to put together this slide show. Enjoy!
Thanks for stopping by!!

Nature provides all kinds of beauty that changes in the light Great photos today
ReplyDeleteBeautiful series of photos.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to see the smoke trees go through the fading light of dusk and into the dark night. I love the sight of the Milky Way from your dark desert skies!
ReplyDeleteGood stuff, and I just had to say it, because here is the first time I have ever witnessed stard caught as well as you do. I just sat and stared at that star studded sky. It is amazing how you captured so many millions of them. Thanks Maybe stopping by your place is giving me more appreciation for someone who is a rea photographer. I had many a mate in the USN that were Photo Mates by rating, that was their job. But looking back I wonder why I never saw one on the deck of the ship at night trying to catch that beautiful view on a clear night. Take care. Again thanks...
ReplyDeleteThese are such wonderful photos :-D
ReplyDeleteThose last three photos before the slide slow - what beauty, with the stars and the Milky Way visible. Another "wow" post. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteWow! Awesome night shots of the Smoke Trees ~ others are great too ~ thanks,

You are my go-to guy for desert photography and especially nighttime desert photography. These shots are great. I only have one question. How many beers for this session?
ReplyDelete...you make this barren landscape come alive! Your night photos are beautiful.
ReplyDeletegorgeous images
ReplyDeleteWow! Pretty sunset!
ReplyDeleteAll beautiful and I like the slideshow!
ReplyDeleteI had a feeling you'd use them as foreground for the Milky Way. Very interesting trees.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking they might turn into wispy smoke ghosts and then vanish. I like the photos with the pink sunset clouds in lines behind the hills. I wonder if trees wish, if they could wish, that they could move around more, see the country. They could come home after and reroot.
ReplyDeleteStunning photos, Milky way looks great.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing them in slideshow format.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful skies.
ReplyDeleteThe sky and trees are amazing.
ReplyDeleteI love the twilight shots!
ReplyDeleteSpectacular photos! Each worthy of a frame and a place in a gallery!
ReplyDeleteWonderful series of the smoke trees and the beautiful sky
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! Have you popped by Carola?
ReplyDeleteYes, and thanks for the tip!
DeleteI loved the slide show. You had a pretty sunset to use as a backdrop. I see a shooting star or maybe that's a star-link passing by. Either way, it's looks great.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post! Well stated, but I’m afraid the skies steal the show.
ReplyDeleteYou really made the smoke tree shine with this post.
ReplyDeleteWorth a Thousand Words
The way the colors shift from golden hour to the Milky Way is just magical. Lovely photos!
ReplyDeleteAs I read and scrolled through your pictures, watching the changes unfold, I thought it would be great to see a time-lapse video—then I noticed your slideshow video. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteA splendid series of photos showcasing the Smoke Trees against such beautiful skies! I love how the sky comes alive with all of those stars at night.
ReplyDeleteTrees is quite different then what we have in Idaho.

ReplyDeleteI can almost feel sitting there with the Smoke Trees as the light changes.

You chose a perfect evening and we too have reaped the reward. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteIt's been cloudy at night, but I love star gazing in Costa Rica. No smoke trees here, but smoking hot temps!
ReplyDeleteI read and loved both posts on these fascinating trees. I always liked how they picked up colors and of course there is something very special about "survivors" like these trees. I seem to remember a house or perhaps a studio somewhere on the outskirts of JT that had a sign in front saying "Painter of Smoke Trees (and the artist's name which I don't remember). I wonder if it was one of the ones you showcase in your earlier post. We never stopped at places like that because we always just wanted to get out and walk in the park.
