Abandoned Motel, Highway 62

This old motel on Highway 62 in 29 Palms appears to have been abandoned for years. It was probably very nice in it's prime. Very photogenic, if you enjoy this sort of desert decay! The skies were amazing (this was two weekends ago), so posting to Skywatch Friday. Click on the link to check out great skies from around the world!
Dead /dying cactus garden; Motel pool in the background.
Pink brick with old, gritty swamp coolers. Classic desert!

  6. Great shooting especially the one with the empty pool. The last picture of course adapted with photoshop or whatever gets a really adobe kind of feeling. Still I am not overly fond of adapted pictures other then perhaps a little sharpening and getting the contrast better. But you have found an environment with endless possibilities for real beautiful pictures and I hope to see a lot more.

  8. Oh these are great shots. There will be a time when none of this is left but thankfully you have recorded a bit of history. I had to chuckle at the swamp cooler....I never knew what those were until we were stationed at Fort Huachucua! They are actually better than AC.

  17. Wow, fantastic series! I love seeing the sky through the window frames, at first I thought it was reflection...but no glass! My favorite is the crumbling staircase...

  19. Great set of pictures - this type of "ruin" can yield some splendid (if at times mournful) images.
