Paint the Moon!

Last night (1/15/2014) was a nearly full moon, so got out the camera/tripod/telephoto lens and took a few shots. A few days ago I heard about a program Adobe makes called "Pixel Bender" which is a free download. So I combined my moon shot with Pixel Bender's "oil paint" function, and here's what I came up with. Not your average looking moon, that's for sure! If you use your imagination a little, you can see oil brush strokes on this "digital painting"!

    Full moon shots always capture my interest. I enjoyed how you used Pixel Blender to go outside the box thinking. Excellent post!

    That is amazing - comparing the two you can see the shapes in the painting - I like that program - I'll have to look into it.

    Both are wonderful but I really like the oil paint - lovely textures and swirls with a hint of colour.

    Outstanding images. Your original image is the best one of the moon that I have seen in this edition of Skywatch Friday. Love what Pixel Bender can do with a little imagination. Well done!

    I love both versions. I must try out this photo editor, it looks fun. And I certainly can't paint with a brush!

    An interesting effect, but I prefer the original. I've never been able to get a clear moon shot like that.

    I can see the appeal of the manipulation - but (like Al and TheChieftess) I like the original more!
