Sand Dunes
Just a couple miles from our desert house are sand dunes hidden in the folds of some hills. They're not visible from the main road, but for some reason the sand must get trapped in the area during high winds. It's a fun place to take a jeep and a camera!
The hills on the horizon are the northern boundary of Joshua Tree National Park. It's called the "Wonderland of Rocks" and for good reason. Our house is over there somewhere on the right.
Something about those ripples in the sand that are irresistible from a photography point-of-view!
My granddaughter loved the challenge of climbing the dunes!
...And did a little happy dance once she reached the top!

ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful Peter -- the sand looks alive! Love to see your g-d having so much fun in nature. That one photo of her joyful dance (in silhouette) at the top of the dune is absolutely amazing. Anyone could frame that on their wall, just as a reminder of what happiness is all about. (You of course could, and probably do, frame the ones where she is identifiable!)

ReplyDeleteYour sand dunes look very pretty, especially with your adorable granddaughter sitting on top of them! I loved the setting sun photo at the end. You capture the most amazing sights where you live.
ReplyDeleteI do hope you get the chance to visit the Great Sand Dune National Park in Colorado someday-- their base is at 8,000 feet elevation and they rise up another 750 feet! They are a wonderful sight to see!
