Leaves of Gold

It was Sunday, and I was trying to think of something to keep Lilly busy. It was cloudy and raining off and on, but we decided to go over to the local park anyway. After checking out the sky, I grabbed my camera, and off we went.
Just a few sprinkles, nothing heavy. And the clouds make for a dramatic sky.

Lilly had a chance to play on the playground.

Then she saw this pretty tree and decided she wanted to stand under it and catch the leaves as they fall. It was a long wait!

This was a fun shot. I asked Lilly to ride her scooter in front of me as I held the shutter release down in "continuous shooting" mode.

After stopping for ice cream, we headed home. In Southern California, we don't get much in the way of fall colors, but the ginkgo trees on our street put on quite a show for a couple weeks every year.

This is Lilly's version of a "snow angel"!

Uh oh. This can't be good...
A direct hit!

Linking with Skywatch Friday.
Thanks for stopping by!!

  1. Lily is adorable - love her "leaf" angel. I was thinking (after seeing so many hikes in the desert posts) that there is a lot of color where you live like green grass and trees. Somehow I always think desert when I think of spare parts.

  3. She's a beautiful leaf angel! Guess she thought what's the difference; snow or leaves - they both are on the ground! I guess my grandfather needs some! That continuous motion is cool:)

  11. I love the "continuous action" shot and - your playgrounds have play rock formations? That is so (for me) unique. Our ginkgos have brilliant yellow foliage - not sure why yours had red mixed in. P.S. Happy all your ginkgos seem to be male - if you ever see fruit mixed in by a female, you'll smell why your granddaughter may choose a different place to play! Have a great week.

    1. Very true, Alana, and thanks for your comment. Our neighbor had a female that would fruit out every year. Not only was it messy and stinky, but people would come by from all over to collect the fruit (for their home-made ginkgo potions) and make a mess in the process. The city finally dug up the tree and replaced it with a male!

  14. Lilly is such a beautiful happy child, probably spoiled a bit. You can make a cloudy day look good. Great job, not all of us have that "EYE". You seem to catch 'it' every time.

  36. I would way rather make Lilly’s version of a snow angel than the cold wet white stuff (and rather her version of a snowball fight too!)....you two had a great Sunday. Love the continuous shot too...how creative!
