Spring Break!

Just a low-key day at the beach, but for granddaughter Lilly, it was the highlight of her spring break. We let her invite a friend, which was a BIG DEAL. With COVID, playing with friends has been very limited. With the adults all immunized, we were feeling a little more comfortable. Turned out to be a very uncrowded day, which also worked in our favor.

Really, the only downside of the day was the cool temps and gusty winds. You can see my wife is pretty bundled up. Did that slow down the girls? Heck no!

From swimming in the ocean to swimming in the pool (unheated), nothing seemed to slow them down. Ah, to be young again!

Not a sight you often see (no crowds at Tower 1, Huntington Beach).

Linking with Skywatch Friday.
Thanks for stopping by.
Stay safe & stay healthy!

  4. It's great that Lilly was able to enjoy this time with a friend - so important for children to do that. Congratulations on facilitating it.

  5. Makes me want to seek out a beach. Today it got up to 77 where I live in New York State (highest temp by far this year) with a beautiful blue sky, but the wind was blowing - and I alternated between roasting in the sun and feeling chilled. Funny how I feel colder the older I get. Yes, to be young again!

  6. ...you had two cuties for models! That beach looked spacious, I've seen some beaches with people elbow to elbow. You sure had some gorgeous skies to enjoy.

  8. Looks like a lot of fun. Yep, we are vaccinated and we are doing a little bit more also. Great photos of two great young people really enjoying themselves. Kudos to you for making that happen.

  9. I learned a long time ago with my own kids that they are impervious to cold when it comes to time at the beach! Glad it was not too crowded!

  10. Wonderful post. Oh, I remember when we were kids swimming in the cold North Sea in Germany. Yes, to be young again... Cute girls and so refreshing you may post this. My SIL does not let me show pics of my Nieces (OK, her kids, of course) online...
Have seen them last summer and we´re still in lockdown.

  12. Wow! excellent pictures. Recently, my kids too love playing in sea water. Contrastingly, we do not have cooler beaches at our village thanks to tropical climate :-)

  14. Looks like the girls had a wonderful and memorable day! I'm sure Lilly really enjoyed being able to have a friend with her. Great that the beach wasn't crowded. I'm fully vaccinated since January, but my hubby just barely got his first dose a few days ago - we are still being very cautious.

  17. I hope the girls keep those photos to look back on decades from now. We never get those days again.

  18. A real fun day. How nice to have a beach nearby to cool off from all that desert visits.

  19. You couldn't have given your daughter and her friend a greater favor, that's obvious.
I think the first photo of the two girls under that wooden construction is beautiful.

  20. Looks like you had a good day with few people around then. Kids don't seem to feel the cold but I bet they shivered when they came out

  28. Buen juego te ha dado ese lugar fabuloso para la fotografía.

Es bueno disfrutar de una cercanía del mar. en el encontramos muchos beneficios que afectan al estado de ánimo.

  29. Well, and to be able to share it with a friend means the world too.

  30. Looks like the girls had lots of fun. (Your granddaughter is going to appreciate all these pics of her when she gets older.) I'm picturing that part of the beach on surf competition days or when the air show comes to town. Amazing seeing it empty.

  32. Greetings and Salutations! I am so happy that Lilly invited a friend to enjoy Spring break with you. Was that Huntington Beach, CA? My favorite beach when I was in 7th grade. Time changes. Don't recognize it. LOL!

    1. Yes, Huntington Beach. Sadly, the Ruby's at the end of the pier closed. I used to like walking to the end of the pier for a burger. Not sure who the new owners are.
