Mitch and I were driving home having just finished up a hike in the Cleghorn Lakes Wilderness Area. More to follow on the hike, but this photo's a sneak preview:
This is a pano shot using my iPhone. Isn't it a beauty?! Nothing but wide open spaces and huge skies! Like I said, more to follow. I'll have a dedicated post for this hike.
As we drive through Wonder Valley heading home, something catches my eye on the side of the road. Stop the car, back up, and let's see if it's photo worthy.
Interesting. It appears to be a small art installation with things attached to old bedsprings. In the photo above, it's strips of fabric blowing in the breeze. No one around. Not in anyone's yard or near a house. Just seems to be put here for random enjoyment!

That's pretty cool. Reminds me of many Route 66 things that are put up to just for its own sake. I love altoids as well and used to keep a can in the car. My son really likes them and would put all of them in his mouth just for the rush. I declined to keep on supplying him.

ReplyDeleteFantastic! Love it. Not had Altoids in years! I think they stopped selling them over here. Last I can recall seeing them was the 90s!
ReplyDeleteYou always find interesting things, or do they find you? This was so enjoyable. I'd love to know the back story if you are ever able to find it out. I tried, in a quick internet search, and couldn't. Another Altoid slogan, I think, is "stronger than the tin they came in", which is perfect for this installation in the middle of nowhere.

What a beautiful panoramic you lead us off with! I look forward to the dedicated post on these shots. An interesting "art installation" you spotted here. I would assume that something like this, despite how jovial it may be and brings smiles to the passersby is considered junk and could be fined if the artist(s) was/were caught. I used to be an Altoids user, except they made too much noise when I would carry them in my suit coat or pants. Then I went to Listerine pocket strips. Do you know what they are referring to with "Uncle"? I am curious, but not "curiously strong". :-)

I am a person who looks for elbow room. You captured the mesa perfectly. I have a very small collection of Altoids myself. One has my thumb drives in them. The rest are empty. On NextDoor someone was collecting Altoids for creative art projects. I never have seen bedsprings as art holding Altoid tins in the middle of nowhere.

ReplyDeleteI love altoids too! And they are curiously strong. I have not said uncle though when having one. I saw an article somewhere about a milky way photo contest. The only shot I saw was one taken from the space station.

ReplyDeleteI usually have a tin of altoids around though I forget about them for some reason. I just looked behind the computer speaker and found the tin I keep down here in the office. I'll have to go wash the dust off the top before I can try one and see if it is still curiously strong.
