Well, I'm still alive, and I've learned my lesson! That lesson being that even with plenty of water and limited exertion, exposure time to high heat is critical. On my last post, we had made it to Cadiz Dunes, but I was feeling poorly from heat exhaustion. Because the temperature stayed so hot into the evening, my recovery was slow.

Scorpions are all over the place out here, and I didn't want to wake up with one in my sleeping bag! That's where a tent comes in handy.

That's better. Now let's work on the sky detail.

My personal favorite.

I walk across the dunes about 30 yards for a different view.
We get back to camp, I climb into my tent and turn on my battery operated fan. Much too hot for a sleeping bag. I have a sheet, but I don't use it. My head hits the pillow and I fall into a deep sleep. I wake up early the next morning and feel fine. We agree that next time we visit Cadiz Dunes, it won't be in summer, but I sure like those dark skies!!
Thanks for stopping by!!

ReplyDeleteA lesson learned and beautiful night shots.
ReplyDeleteWhat more could a person want!?
Magnificent Photos ~ was it worth the high temps??? They are fantastic but concerned about your health ~ Hugs ^_^
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, that you endured a lot to get.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are okay.
Stunning photos and I do like the ones of the Milky Way, I really must try and get one myself. Both my wife and I really suffered this year in the heat and at times I really felt exhausted from it how you made it in the desert like that I don't understand I doubt I would have fared too well
ReplyDelete...thanks for withstanding the heat to. capture these fabulous images!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, dear friend! Oh my goodness, scorpions! I have heard that they can even hide in shoes when people go to the beach! And their sting can be deadly.
ReplyDeleteAmazing place. Awesome series of photos. Sky clouds, night views looks great.
ReplyDeleteIncredible adventure. With 'stellar' photography.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be up all night hoping to see both a partial lunar eclipse and mayyyybee the Aurora Borealis?
I'm glad you recovered from that heat. Insane but awesome.
Incredible shots. Be careful next time.
ReplyDeleteWorth a Thousand Words
So glad you made a recovery. Great pictures.
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it back. Great images. I haven't been liking the heat we're having here. I can't imagine travelling to the desert and dealing with the heat there.
ReplyDeleteThat was quite an outing. I think your fav is mine too.
ReplyDeleteExcellent shots. Your personal favourite is also my favourite. Dunes present wonderful leading lines towards milky way. Congratulations on successful mission completion
ReplyDeleteanother Wow. my favourite is the last one.
ReplyDeleteI love those first two photos with 'what a sky' very much! I'm glad you survived. And got some sleep.
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it back to tell the story and avoided the scorpions! The Milky Way shots turned out fantastic. Stay cool on the next trip!
ReplyDeleteScorpion is my zodiac sign so can´t nothing but like the pic. Nasty little creatures are those though. Add the heat and you´re in very demanding circumstances. Glad you made it out ok.
ReplyDeleteYou were so lucky to recover what seems to be quickly from heat stroke.
ReplyDeleteThe backpack photo is different, and I like it but the sky - wow, the last two photos are wonderful. Well done.
Una buena experiencia que nunca podrás olvidar.
ReplyDeleteMuy buen reportaje fotográfico.
Nearly incapacitated and you still take beautiful photos!

Your perseverance through the intense desert heat clearly paid off, as these dark sky shots of the Milky Way over the dunes are breathtaking! The clarity of the galaxy against the landscape makes for a truly captivating series, and it's great to hear you recovered fully after such a tough evening.
ReplyDeleteWow.. amazing photos.
ReplyDeleteThank you for persevering. Your personal favorite was my personal favorite, but I liked them all.
ReplyDeleteScorpions look dangerous but I guess there are different species, right? I hope you had lots of water to keep you hydrated, have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are always so wonderful. I saw a scorpion once here in Las Vegas. Thanks for sharing these great pictures.
