The mural is quite long, so something of a photographic challenge. I took a series of three photos and stitched them together in Photoshop, and I'm happy with the result. I like the fact that the center portion of the mural includes an orange grove and kids seated around a basket of oranges. After all, Fullerton is in Orange County, and this entire area used to be covered with orange groves before the real estate boom that started in the late '50s.
Linking to Mural Monday at Oakland Daily Photo. Check it out to see some great murals from around the world!
Good job, getting this all in so nicely. I will have to check out photoshop and learn how to do this stitching.
ReplyDeleteI always like these nostalgic murals. They usually make the past seem so innocent. Are the men building a sidewalk? I find it amusing that they decided to feature a real estate office on the mural. Bye-bye orange groves. But happily the SOCO area remains preserved. BTW, your stitching together of the individual photos is completely seamless. Would never have known had you not told us. Thank you for contributing to Monday Mural this week. Hope there are more murals in your neck of the woods.
ReplyDeleteIt's great checking out a town's murals when we first arrive in a new place - love the way they summarise the significant events and features. Of course, there's usually a little romaticizing as well ... Love the way you've presented this - I've got a new camera for Xmas and can't wait to start trying out some of your techniques!!
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling of trying to get an extra wide mural into a photo. In this case you have done an excellent job. Keep on clicking and stitching.
ReplyDeleteVery nice photo! I love panaroma shots - even bought a Sony Cybershot just to capture them. You did an exellent job stitching these together - great mural!
ReplyDeleteI love murals and yours is a fine one. I'll have to be checking out this meme.
ReplyDeleteFabulous mural representing the community!
ReplyDeleteYeah, strange that here too in Florida the Orange trees have given way to progress, especially around Orlando.
ReplyDeleteLike the blog. Thanks fro stopping by the Shipslog.
Wow, part of California history so many don't know. Successful and prolific orange groves in the town of Fullerton. Great mural, nice capture. P.S. my old college roommate was from Fullerton. Small world.
ReplyDeleteNicely done murals - «Louis» likes the fact that they don't look as if they were done by taggers!
ReplyDeleteRe Crixa Cakes, this is, indeed, an excellent bakery offering Czech, eastern European and Russian treats.
You did a great job with that mural, not easy to do. It's hard to imagine Fullerton being a "tourist destination".
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures....I think Fullerton should hire you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderfully colorful mural. I should like to have seen this place back in the 50's.
ReplyDeleteYou have some amazing photos here, thanks so much for sharing. And the header photo is just brilliant!!
ReplyDeleteThis mural is just great and the blog header is fantastic! Love the Joshua's Tree.
