Five Desert Cabins

All shot Saturday afternoon, 3/24/2012, just randomly driving the Jeep around the Wonder Valley area... starting around 4 PM and ending up around 7:30 PM. The photos are posted in order so you can see the day getting darker. Do you have a favorite??
Cabin #1
Love the trail heading up the mountain on the right:  f10, 1/40 sec, iso 160, hand-held
Cabin #2
"Little Pink" with wide open spaces all around:  f22, 1/30 sec, iso 640, tripod (I think?)
Cabin #3
Bare wood:  f22, 1/15 sec, iso 200, tripod
Getting a little closer, desaturating and adding a texture: f22, 1/4 sec, iso 200, tripod
Cabin #4
A fun one to photograph because it is leaning over!  f22, 1/2 sec, iso 200, tripod
Texture/border added:  f22, 1/6 sec, iso 200, tripod
Cabin #5
You can see my Jeep on the left... f22, 1.3 sec, iso 200, flash fill, tripod
f22, 1/4 sec, iso 200, tripod

  2. Oh, how fabulous! I like all of them but my favourite is cabin 4 with those sunbeams streaming down on it!

  3. I'd take cabin #4 under those sunbeams too. Yet #2 looks to be in the best shape. Great shots out there on the desert under changing skies.

  6. hee hee...
You wouldn't have to worry about not having ventilation in these!

Joking aside, these images capture the loneliness of the desert.

  8. You've done an excellent job photographing these cabins. I don't know which one to choose. I like the processing you did with some, the colors in the sky are stunning (you do not really see that here in my street :-)) and these lonely cabins are just beautiful to look at! Have a wonderful weekend.

  11. I can't choose. I like them all. I always think about how they were when they were used and lived in, how life was.

  12. Wow, all this looks so familiar! My hubby and I use to live in Oceanside and rode our Harley across the desert many, many weekends through Palm Springs,Yucca Valley, etc.. One of our favorite places was Two Bunch Palms resort/spa in Desert Hot Springs... God I miss all that!!

I like all the cabins, but #2 has a lot of great potential to it! ;)
