Uh oh... cactus thorn through the shoe! Note to self: For future desert hikes, carry needle nose pliers! |

As always the sky views are amazing out in the desert but I really like that little Red Barrel cactus, just hanging out in the shelter of the boulders!
ReplyDeleteWow - amazing colours in the skies. A fabulous set of shots.

Awesome shots of the boulders and sky! The Red Barrel is a colorful addition to the photo. The last shot is gorgeous with the colors. Well done, happy skywatching!
ReplyDeleteGreat sky, landscape and plants. Unbelievable that you can walk right into them. Sitting in my over cultivated little country on the north sea. Thanks for showing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos...beautiful skies!
ReplyDeletewow, gorgeous photos...ouch about the cactus needle!
ReplyDeleteYou have combined very dramatic skies and landscapes. These pics are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Can you see the comet from there?
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a backyard you've got there! Must have taken you forever to have all those boulders hauled in and placed just so. Great landscaper! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThose skies are wonderful! I love the contrast of textures between those soft clouds and the hardscape of nubbly boulders. And that red barrel - what a fantastic and unexpected little burst of color!
I also love the "back home" shot. You definitely live in a stirringly dramatic landscape! I'm glad you love to photograph and share it.
just awesome!!! except for the cactus spine...
ReplyDeletePeter, those rock formations reminded me of Alabama Hills. Gorgeous sunset!
ReplyDeleteWonderful scenery out there. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing collection of sky shots. Sheer perfection, really. What lens did you use to capture these? I'm getting tired of my bird shots and want to start concentrating on other areas of nature. Sorry about the cactus injury. Yikes, that must've hurt like the dickens! Hope there's no lasting pain or discomfort. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI know the desert is beautiful but you and your camera really capture the essence of it.
ReplyDeleteOh these are fablous sky shots. The light and depth in the first shot is remarkable!
ReplyDeleteYour first two pics are out of this world! In the city I'm missing the horizon and the skies:( Did you use HDR? Thanks for visiting my corner:)
ReplyDeletegreat hiking photos...I'd be content to stay and enjoy the view from the driveway and leave the thorns for the coyote...
ReplyDeletebut I hope you'll bring that needle nose tool for next weekends outing...
Wonderful shots. All of them.
ReplyDeleteThose are some amazing pictures! I am used to seeing sunsets over the ocean so this is unique to me.
ReplyDeleteFabulous photos! That sky is downright awesome. Love that expansive view in the desert.

Gorgeous; what a wonderful hike. We spent most of one winter season in an RV Park in Twenty-Nine Palms. (Well, we slept there...most of the time we were in Joshua Tree.) Loved it so much .. we like to boat though so....
