Desert Sunrise (gasp!) Photos

I'm totally not a morning person. I've convinced myself that sunset shots are way better than sunrise shots, and that I'm not missing anything. However, with my granddaughter being an early riser and sunrise times being so late before we "fall back", I found myself in the desert last weekend actually awake before the sun was up! I know, shocking, right? Imagine my surprise when I saw these incredible skies!!
No time to get my granddaughter properly dressed for a photo. Just a "quick, stand here" before we lose this incredible sky!
Gotta love those cowboy boots! (they were her idea). Looking closely at the photo, I'm pretty sure they were on the wrong feet!
Rusty paint can.

Wild-looking sky in the early morning! Not sure... does this qualify as a fence shot??
That's our modest little "Twin Tanks" homestead cabins, and the never ending trailer project!
View to the northwest and the town of Joshua Tree. Love those purple skies!!
My wife and granddaughter under desert skies! Maybe I need to get up early more often?
Linking with Theresa's Good Fences and Skywatch Friday.
Thanks for stopping by!!

  3. Maybe so -- I'd think those amazing views definitely worth the sacrifice! Especially this month before the time change -- sunrise comes late. Thank you for sharing your wonderful morning. Including the cowboy boots on the wrong "foots" ... too cute and no-contest better memories than any studio posed photo

  19. I'm so not a morning person either but for a sunrise like that I could be converted. Your granddaughter is adorable in her cowboy boots and yes that qualified nicely as a Fence shot.

  27. We BOTH need to see more sunrises. There is nothing like the red glow sunrise sometimes gives to the entire sky. Your photos were breathtaking.

  28. ....I envy those desert surroundings you have!! I'd be awake before sunrise, and sitting by a cactus at night for the sunset...and watching the moon rise also. Wow.

She's a doll!!! And yep, wrong feet/boots. But that makes it all the more sweet in my opinion.

  31. I am so glad your sweet grand daughter got you up early. While Sunsets can be beautiful there is nothing like the beauty and freshness of a morning sky. Gorgeous both the sky and the GD. Love the boots too.

  42. How great to have a granddaughter to get you up and out in the morning. (She's just what I need!) You were in my thoughts this week. I was in London to see an exhibition of Georgia O'Keeffe's work and her Ghost Ranch paintings reminded me of the landscape and all the wonderful colours that you capture in your photography. She wrote, "it's a very beautiful world," and I have to agree.
