Fourth of July Skies!

Joshua Tree National Park doesn't shoot off any fireworks in celebration of Independence Day (thankfully!). But if they did, it might look something like this:

This year, we stayed in town (didn't go out to JTree) and had a backyard BBQ and celebrated my daughter's birthday (yes, born on the Fourth of July!). Then we found a strategic spot to view our city's fireworks display.
I took this photo last year, but we returned to the same location this year (see below). Our city puts on an impressive fireworks display!

My granddaughter standing in front of our house, with the sun setting behind her. This photo is about a year old, and it's one of my favorites!

A few shots from last night... Above is my daughter watching my granddaughter swinging some glow sticks. Fun shot with about a 2 second exposure. Below are shots of our city's fireworks display.

For those of you celebrating, I hope you had a great Independence Day!
Linking with Skywatch Friday.
Thanks for stopping by!!

  2. Agreed. Thankfully fireworks are not on display at the Joshua Tree Park. Like how you captured the photos of fireworks. Hope you had a nice 4th of July. It was raining cats and dogs during the day here but cleared up for the fireworks by 10 PM thank goodness.

  13. Great shots especially with your grand daughter. I think it would be fun to post your photoshopped fireworks on the Joshua Tree instagram or fb account and tell them about the great fireworks you set off. You might have new friends knocking on your door in a day or two.

  18. If only they had those fireworks in Joshua Tree - but then there would be all these crowds - better the fireworks stay in town so you can continue to enjoy what you bring us each week. Enjoyed your town's fireworks. Ours were postponed due to rain!

  22. Your night shots are always so wonderful, whether of nature or man-made wonders. We are still celebrating since our family 4th picnic was postponed until Sunday because of work and travel difficulties due to the mid-week Independence Day.
