We had some brief but intense rain last night about 10PM. The news said it was the first rain we've had (in the Orange County/LA area) since April or May, so 4 or 5 months ago. It only lasted about 15 minutes, but for those 15 minutes it really poured. Based on the amount of water in a backyard bucket, it looked like at least 1/2" rain, if not more. That's a lot of rain in 15 minutes! I also heard the storm moving through the area last night was actually the final remnant of Hurricane Rita.
It's amazing how a little rain can make everything seem so clean and fresh. On my walk this morning we had beautiful blue skies with white puffy clouds. Perfect for a Skywatch post!
I think I see a poodle in this last photo!
Thanks for stopping by!!
Beautiful shots!
ReplyDeleteFunny you should spot a dog in the last shot - I see one in the first image: a lean racing greyhound with its leash waving behind the head! The legs, head shape, eyes, snout and nose are very obvious to me! Fun captures :-)
ReplyDeleteThose are indeed wonderful skies, Peter, they could have been Dutch skies with those nice fluffy clouds ... ;-)
ReplyDeleteGreat cloud formations in those skies.
ReplyDeleteSwiftly fly the years!
ReplyDeleteI always see things in the clouds! I see the poodle and in the one above it, a fish with his tail fin turned up! lol
ReplyDeleteYou got rain?!? I didn't see any rain. And they'd been promising rain. I mean, it spit on my car a bit, but I wouldn't call that rain. I'm so disappointed.
ReplyDeleteYes! After rain scenes are sizzling
ReplyDeleteBeautiful clouds at the corner of Sunrise and Sunset :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, I had no idea things were so dry. If it doesn't rain here in a two week span everybody gets worried.
ReplyDeleteGreat blue sky and puffy white clouds. Rain is always welcome here too.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely blue skies.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful clouds and blue skies - it is amazing what a little rain can do
ReplyDeleteI always feel clean and fresh after a 15 minute shower so why not the landscape? Those skies look particularly crisp in the early morning sun.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got some rain... Love the clouds.
ReplyDeleteAmazing pics
ReplyDeleteThats different with your normal desert shots. That green pasture.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous skies ... says I as I sit here drinking my morning tea watching the sky turn all shades of pink with the sunrise. I love the street signs. How you must enjoy that rain after so many months.
ReplyDeleteHello, the rain was really needed. It is awful to go 5 months without rain. We had too much and are close to breaking a record for rainfall this year. Your blue sky and puffy clouds are beautiful. Lovely photos. Have a happy Friday, happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteGreat fresh air sky and clouds! We should get a 1/2 inch here in the Pacific Northwest. I'm looking forward to it for sure!
ReplyDeleteJoyful blues!
ReplyDeleteawww...I'm inviting you to Tampa, to enjoy our daily 2" deluge every afternoon (in our rainy season)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sky and fluffy clouds. When I was a kid I used to think you could sleep on the clouds and that they were probably bouncy.
ReplyDeleteEven your photos look fresh and new after the rain ~ lovely!
ReplyDeleteHappy Day to you,

ReplyDeleteSo good to get that rain, I'm sure it was much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteThis sign is really difficult for me, because I love both, sunset and sunrise. Maybe i should choose sunrise sit down and wait for sunset !
ReplyDeletePeter,
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous blue sky! I love the street intersection Sunset/Sunrise!! We had plenty of sunshine this week but we're in for some rain come Wednesday or Thursday. I need for it to stay dry so we can mow the yard. Oh well...we may have to postpone that job until the following weekend. I reckon that'll be okay...or it'll just have to be okay. Nice SWF pix!
Gosh that's a long time without rain Peter! We have periods like that too, it makes that first downpour all the sweeter! Beautiful fresh blue skies ✨
ReplyDeleteHi! Nice blue sky photos. I remembered a song named " It never rains in sourthen Calfornia".
ReplyDeleteSeems it never rains in southern California
Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before
It never rains in California, but girl, don't they warn ya?
It pours, man, it pours
Seeing you guys don't get much rain, you must really appreciate it. Nice skies, I love the sunrise and sunset interesection, that is cool!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the weekend.
I am so in love with that street corner; I want to live there just so I can give that location when I direct people ... And your skies and clouds are wonderful. The world does look and smell wonderful after the first good rain!
ReplyDeleteI think I see a dragon! Clouds never cease to amaze me … variety, shape, how they form … love it!
