Morning Walk

We had some brief but intense rain last night about 10PM. The news said it was the first rain we've had (in the Orange County/LA area) since April or May, so 4 or 5 months ago. It only lasted about 15 minutes, but for those 15 minutes it really poured. Based on the amount of water in a backyard bucket, it looked like at least 1/2" rain, if not more. That's a lot of rain in 15 minutes! I also heard the storm moving through the area last night was actually the final remnant of Hurricane Rita.

It's amazing how a little rain can make everything seem so clean and fresh. On my walk this morning we had beautiful blue skies with white puffy clouds. Perfect for a Skywatch post!

I think I see a poodle in this last photo!
Linking with Skywatch Friday.
Thanks for stopping by!!

  1. Funny you should spot a dog in the last shot - I see one in the first image: a lean racing greyhound with its leash waving behind the head! The legs, head shape, eyes, snout and nose are very obvious to me! Fun captures :-)

  5. You got rain?!? I didn't see any rain. And they'd been promising rain. I mean, it spit on my car a bit, but I wouldn't call that rain. I'm so disappointed.

  11. I always feel clean and fresh after a 15 minute shower so why not the landscape? Those skies look particularly crisp in the early morning sun.

  28. Peter,

What a gorgeous blue sky! I love the street intersection Sunset/Sunrise!! We had plenty of sunshine this week but we're in for some rain come Wednesday or Thursday. I need for it to stay dry so we can mow the yard. Oh well...we may have to postpone that job until the following weekend. I reckon that'll be okay...or it'll just have to be okay. Nice SWF pix!

Seems it never rains in southern California
Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before
It never rains in California, but girl, don't they warn ya?
    It pours, man, it pours
