Here's a little local color from the village of Joshua Tree in S. CA. It's a very small town that is build around the west entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. On the corner of Park Blvd. and Highway 62 is the Joshua Tree Saloon, and the east wall contains this mural. Looks like it has something to do with alien prospectors (?), but I can't really tell. Haven't been in the Saloon, but it looks like a hoot! Have to save that for another post :-)
I used Photoshop to stitch three photos together for this shot. Linking to Monday Mural over at Oakland Daily Photo. Please click on the link to check out other great murals! Have a great week.
PS: Found this old pickup out behind the Saloon, just waiting to have it's photo taken!
that mural has a ton of character. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat mural. Very representative of the area. And so is the truck.
ReplyDeleteThat is one strange mural. I'd love to meet the artist.
ReplyDeleteAnd your truck photo is beautiful. Great color and texture, and the effect evokes a great sense of nostalgia
LOVe, LoVE, Loooove it!!!!...old trucks are so fun to photograph.
ReplyDeleteYou weren't kidding about alien prospectors! Maybe this is the mural version of free association. Whatever the intention, it's funny and creates interest in the joint it decorates. Thanks for the fun contribution to this week's Monday Mural. And like everyone else, love the desert pickup.
ReplyDeleteThe same words came to mind immediately when I saw this mural: what a hoot! There are stories here... man climbing cactus? Aliens? Hope I catch your post when you report on the Saloon, too. And yup, that's quite the processing on a vintage old truck...!
ReplyDeleteLove the processing on the old truck!
ReplyDeleteThat saloon looks to me like anyone in or out of this world would fit right in.
The mural is certainly different! Aliens - I think that is a first for me! The truck is a great shot too - it has definitely has been around a while!
ReplyDeleteI really like this mural. I got a chuckle from some of the characters in it.
ReplyDeleteneat mural and i love that truck!
ReplyDeleteLooks like someone might have found some magic mushrooms in the desert before they painted the mural! It's hilarious! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I just LOVE the high desert! It's so much more interesting than the lower desert, where I live! Did they get snow up there this weekend? Highway 74 was CLOSED at the Anza turnoff, due to blizzard conditions and zero visibility Sunday evening!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think I missed this part when we went to Joshua Tree. Very nicely done for the photo merge!
ReplyDeleteoh what a lovely mural. i like that ET was depicted there as well.
ReplyDeleteLooks like everyone is welcome at that saloon!
ReplyDeleteLooks to me like the mural characters are waiting in line to use the phone!
ReplyDeleteThat mural is too funny :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the car!
Great work! It's really nice and cute! Nice rustic pickup too :)

That pick up redefines the word "used." I like the mural.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos....did you ever check out the gas station wall for all the mural locations?
ReplyDeleteThat's a great looking truck!
