I know, most of you don't get too excited over a little rain. But S CA is so bone dry and parched that we love it! We started out this week with a gloriously rainy Monday morning, some clearing in the afternoon, and then more rain overnight. I only wish it had lasted for a few more days, but happy for whatever we can get.
It was during the break in the afternoon rain, when the sun seemed like it was fighting with the clouds to dominate the sky, that I couldn't resist going out for a walk, camera in hand.
To the NW, downtown LA was in a haze.
For the most part, there wasn't much in bloom. But at the top of the property, wow, lots of yellow flowers. Beautiful!!
Google Lens (something I just discovered) tells me this is called "Sticky Monkey Flower". There's quite a bit of it flowering in the area, and the hummingbirds seem to enjoy it!
Linking with Skywatch Friday.
Thanks for stopping by!!
...I imagine that spring rains are welcomed, dance in the rian!!!
ReplyDeleteWe were kind of miserable in the rain, mostly because the overhang out behind the classroom leaked like a sieve. I was slipping and sliding. But I do enjoy a good rainstorm. It's looking threatening today.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are so exotic, though the skies are decidedly English-looking.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I didn't know the name of the sticky monkey flower either! Great shot of the clouds around the jumbo jet. Hope it won't rain in the desert in the weekend for your sake:):)
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty flowers! I will have to investigate Google Lens. I am with you 100% on the love for rain! Lately, never seem to get enough in Colorado and We've already had two wildfires along the front range. Our temperatures seem to go from winter to summer, skipping spring.
ReplyDeleteNice photos and very pretty flowers. Could well have been Dutch landscapes in march or april. But today and tomorrow we have snow, and that is unusually late in the season.
ReplyDelete- Greetings from the Netherlands
#4 is my fav. Fantastic scenery and a great photo!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should do rain dance for more water. :)
Gorgeous skies.
ReplyDeleteWhere ever you end up going for a walk you come away with amazing photos
ReplyDeleteIt is such a pretty area, looks like the rain did everything alot of good.
ReplyDeleteDearest Peter,
ReplyDeleteOh, rain is so very welcome when there is a drought in nature!
Those blooms in the spring are the best sight; it only should last longer...
Yes, Google lens I've used several years back as our German 'son' taught me how to go about that. It has helped me in locating some old photos that we did not know. Excellent tool!
Your photos are once again fabulous. As for the big jumbo, imagine that Pieter and I sat in those, on our butt for over 1,500,000 miles... flying to work in Indonesia, India or Australia... from the USA! Glad that is behind us.
Hugs,
Mariette
All these are lovely photos. Sky is wonderful with beautiful clouds. These flowers are pretty too..
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
What pretty yellow flowers along the muddy puddle path. Some parts of the world have too little rain and others too much. Balance truly is bliss when it comes to the weather.
ReplyDeleteIsn't technology great? Always enjoy reading your post wherever you are.
ReplyDeleteI understand your excitement. Central Florida has 2 seasons - dry and wet. We're coming to the end of the dry season by end of May ususally. We can have fires in spring from all the dry material everywhere. We got rain last week and some today. That's much better than most of the winter. In wet season we can have flooding when we have heavy downpours. Hard to please me isn't it?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots! We are in a more moderate climate but today we had a violent storm.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful pics.
ReplyDeleteLoved the post. Happy Weekend.
Beautiful pics, what a dramatic sky and wonderful flowers and puddles - I love rain!
ReplyDeleteJust stepped out into... snow, ugh.
Just once I saw the Anza-Borego Desert in full bloom. I'll never forget it. Great pictures, as always.
ReplyDeleteLovely puddles in that sand path. It all looks wonderful again.
ReplyDeletegreat capture and right timing
ReplyDeleteI'm in Memphis where we get plenty of rain. We still enjoy those gray, rainy days, though. I like a change in the weather, and around here we certainly get it lol
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty wildflowers - none that I am familiar with, nor did I know anything about Google Lens. I have an iPhone but there are still ways to access it. Thank you for the tip, and enjoy the bloom while it lasts. (P.S. today we had rain, snow, and ice pellets, all at the same time.)
ReplyDeleteMe encanta que llueva, es muy beneficiosa el agua, para el campo y para las plantas y además abatecen los emblases, para el servicio de la población.
ReplyDeleteFelÃa fin de semana.
I love your little wild area. Great for taking photos. You captured some dramatic skies. I hope you guys get more rain!!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful
ReplyDeleteWonderful to see
I love watching documentaries where they show the desert blooming after some rare rain. We have so much rain that we take it for granted.
ReplyDeleteLove the way the jumbo jet has been framed in the clouds :)
Ooooh, my foster father would have enjoyed this So Much . . . I do . . But, it resonates with me even more - because you've reminded me of him,
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Thank you!
Great photos! I especially like the first one!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
Even with rain, pictures can turn out great ! We had snow last night after more than a week with sunny an warm weather. Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteWow! Glad you got rain ~ lovely series of photos and that last one is fantastic with plane captured in the cloud break ~ Xo
ReplyDeleteWishing you love and laughter in your days,

Beautiful sky captures.
ReplyDeleteI love rain! Summers in Montana are very dry, and we are also considered in a drought. So, you will never hear me complain about precipitation! Lovely flowers!!! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you have rain. Beautiful wild flowers and lovely skies. We are having lots of rain here.
ReplyDeleteI share your love of rain and I love how the desert smells after a shower. I especially like the photos of the road with the yellow flowers.
ReplyDeleteEven the coastal or semi-coastal areas of the West need more rain. But I'll tell you, there's nothing quite as magical as the bloom in the desert after a few days of it!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots. Wonderful skies!
