Macro Monday

I just bought my first macro lens, and have to say, I'm really enjoying it!  It's so true what one reviewer said when I was shopping online... "when you get it, you will walk around your house or out in your yard and start taking pictures of everything in sight!"... which is exactly what I did.
Not much blooming out in the desert right now, but we have a bush called 'Texas Ranger' which was just starting to bloom this weekend.  Along with the purple flowers, there were honey bees everywhere, so here's my first attempt at macro photography!
You can see the pollen sac on the rear leg.

  1. If this is your first try at macro photography you did a great job. I like it!
No, i didn´t use a tripod when i took my picture. Instead i was leaning my elbows on a railing and held my breath for a while. And it worked. ;)

  2. Well done! Macro photography is addictive. I usually set my camera on continuous and take several photos of the same object, especially if it's moving. :)

  9. Thanks for stopping by my blog (Clouded Sulphur on Spotted Knapweed post for Macro Monday)... I'm currently traveling so it's taken me a few days to stop by and visit yours... I predict you will LOVE your macro lens... it does make for an entirely new way of looking at one's surroundings. These are lovely images... I'll look forward to seeing more.

Meantime, just thought I'd tell you that I scrolled down and read the rest of your recent posts... am off to drop a couple more comments before heading out into a beautiful blue sky day here in Red Lodge, MT.

  12. Macro can be addictive. While nothing can compare to a good macro lens I don't hesitate to use the macro feature on other lenses when a good subject presents.
